Making a website in 72 (plus a few) hours
A few weekends ago, a bunch of the members of the DC web community volunteered their time to re-design a local non-profit’s website as part of CreateathonDC 2012. My Forum One co-workers Marcus and Brian and I teamed up with an A-list team of devs and strategists to redo Phoenix Bikes.
Brian and I did the major design work on it ahead of time. We wanted to make sure Henry at Phoenix Bikes was happy with the site we were going to end up building for him. Over the course of the weekend, I had to crank out a lot of CSS skills to help the team out where I could.
There are bunch of write ups around the web about the weekend, so head over to those to read more:
- Molly’s initial wrap-up on Web Development Group’s blog.
- A write up we put together about the event on Forum One’s blog.
- Homiera’s review of the sponsors and successes of CreateathonDC on WDG’s blog.
I think I’m still tired from it… but I will say that it’s pretty amazing what a team can do with some laser focus and when we’re all invested in moving towards the same goal.
